Creating your IRS account. 2024 Update

Create your account.

Click on Sign in to Your Account

This will bring you to a sign in screen with 2 options.

You must already have an existing IRS.gov ID.me username to by-pass this next series of step.

Otherwise, you will be required to create an ID.me account log in. You should open a browser on your cell phone, as you will need to allow the app to scan your face for ID verification. It also requires that you upload a photo of the front and back of your ID. The IRS has teamed w/ ID.me to provide the best ID protection and to protect your tax account.

On your phone : Follow the instructions to complete your ID verifications.
